Virginia Military Advisory Committee

The Virginia Military Advisory Council (VMAC) was established to maintain a cooperative and constructive relationship between the Commonwealth and the leadership of the Armed Forces of the United States. VMAC's mission also extends to the military commanders stationed in the Commonwealth, where they work together to encourage regular communication on continued military facility viability, the exploration of privatization opportunities and issues affecting preparedness, public safety and security.

Major General Mitchell H. StevensonMajor General (P) Mitchell H. Stevenson was appointed Chairman of the Virginia Military Advisory Council at their March 21, 2008 meeting. General Stevenson is currently serving as the Commanding General, United States Army Combined Arms Support Command and Fort Lee. The President has nominated Major General Stevenson for appointment to the rank of Lieutenant General and assignment as Deputy Chief of Staff, G-4, United States Army. Effective June 3, 2008 with execution of the Change of Command ceremony, Major General Stevenson will relinquish command to BG(P) James E. Chambers, who will serve out Major General Stevenson’s term as the Virginia Military Advisory Council chair.
