Central Virginia Urban Area Security Initiative

Central Virginia UASIIn February 2007 the Department of Homeland Security announced that the Richmond metropolitan statistical area had received the designation of an Urban Area Security Initiative. UASI Program funds address the unique planning, equipment, training, and exercise needs of high-threat, high-density Urban Areas, and assist them in building an enhanced and sustainable capacity to prevent, protect against, respond to, and recover from acts of terrorism.

The Central Virginia UASI is comprised of the following jurisdictions:

Cumberland County Dinwiddie County
Goochland County Hanover County
Henrico County King and Queen County
King William County Louisa County
New Kent County Powhatan County
Prince George County Sussex County
City of Colonial Heights City of Hopewell
