About the Consortium

Purpose

The VHEPC exists to provide independent advice and recommendations from the Commonwealth's academic community to the Executive Offices of the Governor of the Commonwealth and other state entities.

The VHEPC will assist state and local government agencies in the study and analysis of strategic issues and proposed or enacted policies that address the spectrum of safety, security, preparedness for all hazard threats and educational dissemination within the Commonwealth.

The VHEPC will provide a forum for the exchange of academic research, innovative concepts, professional development through continuing education and training and analytical products that relate to safety, security and preparedness of all hazard threats. 

The VHEPC shall report periodically, as may be appropriate, to the Governor of the Commonwealth and the General Assembly through the Office of Commonwealth Preparedness and the Secretary of Education.
